Skip Work, Call In, Download Free Music For DC Voting Rights

Today, Monday, September 17th, we encourage you to help right the historical wrong foisted on the citizens of DC two centuries ago. Tomorrow, Senator Reid will bring the DC Voting Rights bill to the floor, and we need you to spread the word and demand your Senators to support DC voting rights. To do that, we're offering a free music download about the issue for you to forward to all your friends, brought to you by Analog Jetpack, Gist, The Dance Party, Max Glass, and featuring Representative Eleanor Holmes Norton on the floor of Congress! Right-click and "Save As" to your desktop here to download:

Three Red Stars (Over Two Red Bars)

When you send on the word to your friends, let them know they need to call in today, toll-free, to demand their Senators' support for DC voting rights! Forward the link and urge them to take part in DC Vote's National Call-In Day today at 1-866-346-3008, 9 am - 5 pm EDT. The call is free, and you'll be transferred to your Senator's office, where you can let them know that DC voting rights is a moral imperative!

We Have Returned.

The first leg of the DC Voting Rights Tour 2007 was a success. Vis à vis some coverage the week of the tour, including a story and video in the Washington Post, a piece put on the wire by the Associated Press, and an editorial in the Christian Science Monitor. To say nothing of Danny's summary of the tour as "the best week of his life." Stay tuned for our next steps in taking this party nationwide.

Hear the future: the bands of the
DC Voting Rights Tour 2007

Indie Roots is proud to announce the bands who have signed aboard for the first leg of the DC Voting Rights Tour 2007!! We've had a chance to meet with them all, and all have passed a rock fitness exam and a written. We're tremendously excited to get on the road with these creative individuals and disenfrancised DCists. Ladies and gentlemen, the premier lineup for the DC Voting Rights Tour 2007:

Gist
Analog Jepack
The Dance Party
Telemetrik

These bands have all been certified indie-worthy and Grammy-free. This leg of the Voting Rights Tour will rock for five days strong, just long enough to gauge the demands of a national tour. Come out, support us, feel righteous and active in ownership of your democracy! For the tour dates and locations, click here.

DC Vote Feels Our Vibe

The diligent and tireless DC Vote is on board with developing the DC Voting Rights Tour. DC Vote is known well in the area and nationwide for their efforts in publicizing DC's lack of voting rights. They are perhaps best-known for championing the issue on DC license plates by branding them with the motto "Taxation Without Representation". Their Executive Director, Ilir Zherka is frequently cited as an expert on the issue, and their website has won beaucoup d'awards. We're looking forward to coordinating strategies.
