DC Voting Rights Tour bands

Indie Roots is proud to announce the bands who have signed aboard for the first leg of the DC Voting Rights Tour 2007!! We've had a chance to meet with them all, and all have passed a rock fitness exam and a written. We're tremendously excited to announce and get on the road with these creative individuals and disenfrancised DCists. Ladies and gentlemen, the premier lineup for the DC Voting Rights Tour 2007:

Gist
Analog Jepack
The Dance Party
Telemetrik

These bands have all been certified indie-worthy and Grammy-free. The Voting Rights Tour will rock for five days strong, just long enough to gauge the demands of a national tour. Come out, support us, feel righteous and active in ownership of your democracy!

Gist Dischord-distributed three-piece Gist brings "a raw and uncompromising mix of dynamic post-punk and hook-laden rock n' roll that stands in a class all by itself. Think Fugazi angularity, The Police beats, Sonic Youth noise, Wilco lyricism, and smatterings of blues, soul & world music." Their three releases have reflected a myriad of stylings, and following the DC Voting Rights Tour, they're headed to record another.

Analog Jetpack The pop-grunge trio has rocked the District since 2005, hiding intellectual thought-compositions inside a fuss of power chords and feedback. Analog Jetpack twists jazz, fingerpicked blues and a fury of drums into an array of blazing pop. Currently they are wrapping up their debut with producer Jerome Maffeo of Jimmie's Chicken Shack.

The Dance Party Facile branding dresses the stylized compositions of The Dance Party, who recently helped sell out DC's classic 9:30 Club. Born from the embers of the flickering guitar fuzz of the early 90's, The Dance Party worships "only distortion, loud ass drums, cheap women, and catchy jams."

Telemetrik Drum and bass virtuoso Marcio Alvarado launches a new solo project with this tour. A producer know for melodic and explorative drum and bass compositions, Alvarado will sing and accompany himself with only acoustic guitar, in stark contrast with the productions that have enabled him to tour internationally.
